Greetings!
This is part one in a three part series exploring the bands playing our album release/ tour kickoff show this Sunday April 3rd at Mercury Lounge in NYC. They are some of our very favorites so come early and check them out!
First up is Suddenland from Kingston/ New Paltz NY.
Suddenland's drummer is one Kevin "Malone" McMahon, producer/engineer/live sound dude extraordinaire, who has worked with countless fine bands - including our old band The Jaguar Club and Pacific Theater (whom we'll meet in a later installment.) Kevin recently mixed and generally worked his magic on our new record 'Dancing In Ceremony.' He also played drums on a few songs, and made a sound like a bus driving by you on 'The Modern'. He doesn't even get that annoyed (or hides it really well??) when we call/text/email him constantly with annoying questions. A good man, Kevin is.
At some point between our first meeting old Malone back in 2008 and then recently working with him on the Medals album he became an incredible good drummer. It is in this capacity that we'll be seeing him on Sunday night when takes the stage with his band Suddenland, which is rounded out by husband and wife team Josie Baucom on keys/vocals and Kees Poort on guitars and things. We had the honor of hearing their album while mixing with Kevin and we're pretty excited to see them live.
